What a wonderful show of support for Pittsfield Native, Dr. David Austin.  On October 27th, 2016 he returned to Pittsfield, his childhood home, to launch his first book, Therese’s Dream – Maine to Darfur: A Doctor’s Story.

He is clearly a beloved figure in Maine as many residents drove from neighboring towns to join in this celebration and to hear him read excerpts from his book.  After reading several passages, Dr. Austin offered a brief Q & A, the time was quickly filled with inquiries about life in Africa, medical technology and treatment, challenges of language barriers and civil unrest in the countries he worked in.

Special thanks to Pittsfield Public Library for their generous support of local authors and the open arms that welcomed this author home.

Dr. Austin and his wife, Dell, will be moving to their home in Belize early in the new year where he is setting up a medical practice to help the people there.Dr. Austin will remain available for book readings and public speaking throughout the USA.
